The future of photography and video?

Hey,

I still remember my first digital camera, a small (or actually rather big) point and shoot camera with 1.2MP, that must be now around 10 years ago. At the same time, mobile phones were used to text and call, maybe you were lucky and had an alarm clock in it or even a 0.4MP camera. Few years later I got the first affordable DSLR with 6MP, a lot at the time and the mobile phones got better cameras.

Where are we now? Point and shoot cameras have more and more megapixels, the top end DSLR cameras go above 20MP and mobile phones, well they are now used to shoot commercials...
Such as the latest HTC One commerical that has been shot eralier this year over the Arizona desert.
The shoot was with Roberta Mancino (announced BASE jumper and skydiver as well as published model that has shot for Vogue Italy, Vanity fair, Rolling Stone and others) who did a fashion shoot in freefall. Photography studtent Nick Jojola was using the phone to not only film the jump for the commercial but also to take a photo with the phone.
Besides the challenges of the freefall and the speed (120+ miles per hour) there was also the callenge of makeup. It had to be perfect like on any other fashion shoot, and like on any other fashion shoot there were touch ups, this time though during freefall. Next challenge, the clothes, they had to withstand strong winds of speed up to 180miles/hr. The high heels Roberta is wearing during the jump weren't either the easiest shoes to land in thus after her first landing in the heels she ended up taking them off before the landing.

I find it amazing how fast digital photography has changed and am exited to see what the future brings.
Will more commercials be filmed and shot on mobiles?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

And now, the commercial and below the making... enjoy

Another male fashion shoot

Hey

on Friday I did another shoot with model and artist David White.
We started of with some smoke grenade shots which however I cannot use yet as they might get used for publication but lets put it this way, it got real smokey indoors. After that we did some more editorial shots indoors as well as on the roof in beautiful sunshine.
I wanted a real soft look and using a lot of natural light and flares created by the sunshine. I used one flash as fill light to create some light on the face. Then I wanted to have some shots with a real dark blue sky and just some sunlight on David, various edits of this below.
The golden gas mask he was wearing gave a different look and feel to the images and the strong sunlight from behind helped to create the look I wanted on the first shots.
Besides the bad air after the smoke grenades indoors we had great weather and a fun shoot. Have a look below and see what you think.

I edited the shots as usual with Lightroom, however as there were quite a few shots that I really liked I thought for a change I arrange them in pairs with a bit of a frame. Besides that the images have not been retouched.

To see some of his artwork visit Endless and for more of my work visit my webpage.

230 Faces

Welcome back,

Besides the sunny days in London I ended up for a small shoot of various facial expressions. The model was Saskia, another german stuck in London and we did the shoot at my place against a plain wall all lit up with one flash on the side and natural sunlight from the other side.
My idea for the shoot was from the begining to have it as a time laps video whereas Saskia wanted the a few images set together next to each other.

The entire shoot took less than 30min in which we got various expressions and shots, so it really was just point and shoot and with every flash change the facial expression a bit. The name '230 Faces' is because of the 230 shots I took and showing in the video.

I will show you the only the video version for now however might at some other point get in some of the images.

As always, leave a comment below, like my facebook and should you have any enquries please email me here or check out my webpage.

Sport clothing shoot

Hey,

Its been great weather the last week here in the UK and last Saturday was no exception. Organised by Chloe Bruce we did a shoot in Basingstoke for an Americal clothing company.
First look out my window in the morning made me think... perfect weather for a shoot, blue sky and on top we had temperatures of about 10 degrees more than the average for this time of year, so with around 20 degrees it was great especially as the athletes had to model in t-shirts.
Once on location, some old building with great staircases and views I set up my GoPro to capture some behind the scene footage which you will see in the video below.
Idea was to get some casual shots of everyone as well as some action shots ranging from martial arts over to freerunning and breakdance.
The location gave some great spots to shoot and the athletes were great to work with. I worked most the time with 2 strobe lights to get the sky darker and to show some of the location as well. At this point I cannot show the final images as they haven't been released yet but here a small taster from behind the scenes.

For any enquiries please email me here. For more of my work visit mostphotography and like my Facebookpage or follow me on Twitter.

Would love to hear your feedback, do you want to see more of the GoPro behind the scenes videos or do you rather see the edited images on here?

3 sunny days in London with the Iphone

Hi

Hope you are well and you had as well some sunshine. The last 3 days here in London have been nice and finally we had some sun and it starts feeling like spring is coming. Had shoots yesterday and today but managed to walk around a bit on Monday as well as after the shoot today and take some shots with my Iphone, so took some street shots. On Monday my focus was really on London reaching into the sky with some new buildings and today was more focus on sun and and shadow. So before I start uploading the shots from my 2 shoots I thought I show you some of the shots I took just walking around.
Those of you who like my facebook page have seen some of my recent Iphone shots already and are most likely familiar with the app I use, Snapseed. This is a fun app that allows you to edit your shots directly on your mobile, change brightness, contrast, saturation... add some effects such as drama and add a frame around the images.

Enough talking now, have a look at the images and let me know what you think. Would really love to get some comments on them and if you got some shots you took send them to me via email and I will get them up on here soon and share them around (of course with your name and credit to them).

If you have any enquires for a shoot or want to see more of my work go to mostphotography or email me at the above email.

Have a great week

Fire Stunt

After a week in Germany I arrived today at 7am back in UK, headed back to London and got ready for a shoot.
Today I did a shoot with stuntman David Grant. The shoot took place on a big field and after getting a small stage for david to jump of I set up my lights and tested them before the stunt...
Then it was time for David to get all ready with protective clothing and gel before he then got set on fire.
Once ready it was 3,2,1... action and he ran of and did a sumersault of the stage all in flames before having someone jumping in with an extinguisher.
I used 3 lights to get enough light on David and to get the backdrop dark.
This time I have a small video for you shot with the GoPro camera with a few of the final images at the end.
Big thanks to all involved, stunt coordinators, safety backup and 2nd camera.

Enjoy the video

Exhibition and another shoot

Hey,

so it has been a while since the last post... so what happened since?
Had a number of shoots, however there are 2 shoots that I will talk about today.
First I did a fashion shoot with the theme 'sport' together with stylist Sam, models Diana and Dagmara and makeup artist Sienna and clothes by designer Sarmite Ostanevica. The shoot took place on a Monday and I needed 5 images of that shoot for an exhibition the week after, so the pressure was on. The location we shot at was the same warehouse where the exhibition was a week later. Constructions were still going on so at times even shouting wasn't loud enough to communicate plus it was quite cold inside but everyone did a great job. I had 3 days to look through the images and choose the 5 images that I wanted to use and retouch.
Exhibition was great with a good turn out and had some good feedback so big thanks again to all involved, you all did great and I couldn't have done without you.

The next shoot was once again with stylist Sam and model Emelie and makeup by Erica. We were lucky enough to have one of the first days this month of sunshine which was great at we were shooting outdoors. However the wind was still cold so it wasn't the same as a shoot in the summer. We had 2 locations for the shoot, a plain brick wall and then a garden. Besides the cold Emelie did a great job. I used mainly one softbox and then on some shots a 2nd light as fill light. The images below were only edited in Lightroom however will further retouch some of them.

Next week then I am going to do a shoot with 2 Beachvolleyball players in the city and then a few more shoots coming soon.

Till then, leave a comment below
